One driver is cited with following too closely after a wreck Monday sends five to hospitals with minor injuries.

According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Jimmy Carter Jr., 30, of Cedartown, was the driver in the 2006 Nissan Frontier which collided into the back of a 2000 Mazda Protege around 5:20 p.m. Monday.

The crash happened at Highway 27 North at the Meadow Lake Golf Course, tying up several lanes of traffic.

GSP officials said there were several complaints of injury. A driver complained about his knee and was taken by a family member to a hospital. The remaining four were taken by ambulance, and all were treated and released.
