A Cartersville man is still being treated at Floyd Medical Center after a collision on Highway 27 ended this morning with an overturned vehicle.

Cedartown Police Department officials said the man, identified as James Altman of Cartersville, didn’t show any serious injuries initially after the wreck. However, he was taken to the hospital because he complained of back pain.

Officials said the wreck happened between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Highway 27 at Lakecreek Road. According to the initial investigation, a male driver pulled out from Lakecreek Road at Cedar Lake Christian Academy into the middle turning lane to go south on the highway. Another vehicle traveling in the south bound lane struck him and then flipped over.

The driver of the first vehicle in the turn lane said he didn’t see the southbound car coming, officials said.

It is uncertain which car Altman was driving. Officials can’t say at this point whether any citations will be issued.
