A Silver Creek man remained jailed Thursday morning after he led Rome police on a foot chase following a traffic stop on Dean Avenue late Wednesday, reports stated.

According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:

Austin Mark Outlaw, 20, of 1744 Pleasant Valley Road in Silver Creek, was arrested Wednesday around 11:50 p.m. on misdemeanor charges after he was stopped on Dean Avenue suspected of driving under the influence.

Police gave Outlaw a breathlyzer test to see if he had been drinking, and when they attempted to place him under arrest he “broke and ran.”

Outlaw allegedly ran across Dean Avenue and down Callier Springs Road, hiding in a ditch, where police caught up with him. After trying to run once again, he was apprehended after a short struggle.

Outlaw remained at the Floyd County Jail Thursday morning on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, underage possession of alcohol, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and no proof of insurance.

He was also being held on a probation hold.
