Both Rockmart and Cedartown had strong performances Friday at the state competition cheerleading event to advance to the finals on Saturday. Unfortunately on day two, neither team was able to place in the top four in state.

Rockmart had placed fifth at the sectionals to advance to Saturday's finals in Class AA while Cedartown finished third to advance to the Class AAA finals.

"We're just happy and thankful that we made it through today and into tomorrow, because our region is competitive," Rockmart Head Coach Amy Davenport said Friday. "Everybody in our region is good."

On Saturday, Cedartown finished just off of the podium in fifth. John's Creek won the AAA title. Rockmart did not place in the top six in the final round. Calhoun won the Class AA state crown.
