A student has been charged with raping two girls at Cedartown High School.

In the latest offense, the attack occurred in the boys locker room, according to reports.

Complete details of the offenses are not being released, due to the offender and victims all being juveniles. State law prohibits the names of the individuals from being disclosed publicly.

Polk County Police Capt. Ron Thomas confirmed Tuesday that the perpetrator, a male student at the high school, has been charged with two counts of statutory rape.

Thomas said the suspect was charged with statutory rape, because there was no evidence to suggest the rapes were forced. Statutory rape covers sexual intercourse where the victim is under 16 years old.

One of the victims was 14 years old at the time of the rape, according to Thomas, which occurred months ago, but only was disclosed last month.

In the other attack, the suspect allegedly coaxed a 14-year-old girl into the boys locker room in the gymnasium.

A teacher reported the rapes to the school resource officer on Jan. 24.
