The musical “They’re Playing Our Song” will be performed tonight, Thursday, March 1, at the Cedartown Civic Auditorium.

Curtains will go up at 8 p.m.

Tickets are on sale by calling the Auditorium at 770-748-4168. Prices range from $20-$30. Both student and senior citizens discounts are available.

Erin Moran, who many will remember as Joanie Cunningham on the 1970’s television show “Happy Days” will be the featured actor.

The musical is based on a book by Neil Simon. Marvin Hamlisch wrote the musical score for the production and lyrics were provided by Carole Bayer Sager.

“They’re Playing Our Song” is a musical comedy about a wise-cracking, neurotic, award-winning composer, Vernon Gersch (played by Moran) and a witty, intelligent and offbeat lyricist of contemporary pop songs, Sonia Walsk.

Vernon and Sonia are introduced by an agent to begin a professional collaboration which, of course, leads to a meaningful relationship between the two.

The musical is richly funny and romantic story about a couple who make beautiful music together, but have a difficult time making their lives as harmonious as their songs.

Ms. Moran was cast as Joanie Cunningham at age 12. “Happy Days” was one of the longest running situation comedies in television history.

During the tenth season of “Happy Days,” Ms. Moran starred in her own spin-off series “Joanie Loves Chachi.” Each episode featured a musical duet, which gave her the opportunity to express and share her love of singing.

The musical is part of the 2000-2001 Series. Upcoming shows scheduled are: “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline,” March 16; and Shanghai Circus, April 21.
