The recently placed speed bumps along the city road was an issue debated by commissioners last Thursday.
Commissioner Ray Merritt stated that he had been overwhelmed with complaints about the speed bumps.
Ive had more complaints about that than everything together since Ive been here, Merritt said.
Resident James Mayben spoke in defense of the speed bumps, saying that he and other residents of East John Hand Road were in agreement about them when they were first placed there. He said the speed bumps cut down on dangerous speeders in that area.
I cannot back out of my driveway, Mayben said. I dont want to move and I dont want to get killed.
Commissioners agreed to leave the speed bumps in place but to paint them so that they are more noticeable to drivers.
