An agreement was signed Wednesday, March 23, at HON’s local office at 907 West Avenue to seal the commitment of the three partners.
The Quick Start training agreement was developed based on a Project Study that was conducted at HON in Cedartown. As part of the agreement HON will be providing 30 new jobs for individuals in the Polk County area, according to information about the project.
Quick Start will design and develop training material and provide instructors for the classes. This organization is a premiere economic develop-ment program, administered through the Department of Technical and Adult Education. It is an economic incentive program that provides employee training at no cost, for qualified companies moving into the state and qualified existing companies that are expanding their workforce.
According to reports, the Quick Start program has been in existence since 1967 and has trained over 485,000 employees for more than 4,800 different companies.
Coosa Valley Technical College will be available to assist HON with ongoing training programs. Craig McDaniel, president of Coosa Valley Technical College said, “We are pleased to be working with HON. Polk County is extremely important to us at Coosa Valley Technical College.”
The training will focus on computer skills, communication and customer service classes. The classes will focus on HON’s newly expanded distribution center, according to information provided by HON.
HON employs over 700 at their facility here and produces both metal and wood office furniture. HON is recognized as one of the “best of the best” manufacturing companies in the United States, reports indicate, winning the prestigious Oglethorpe Award last year and the Shingo Award for Excellence in Manufactu-ring the year before.
