Rockmart High School graduate Alana Jones recently just completed a successful season on the basketball courts.

Playing for Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Jones played in all 25 of the Lady Bobcats games this past season. The 5-foot-1 guard started nine of those contests.

Jones helped her team advance all the way to the NJCAA Region XVII title game in Warner Robins, Ga.

For the season, Jones averaged 18.5 minutes each game while scoring 4.2 points each time out. Jones shot 30.8 percent from the floor this year, including 53.5 percent from the free throw line.

The speedster grabbed three rebounds, dished out 1.8 assists and stole the ball 1.2 times each game the Lady Bobcats played.

Jones best game this season came on Feb. 15 against Toccoa Falls College, when she scored 12 points. She had 10 points against West Georgia Tech on Jan. 15 and 10 points against Covenant College on Jan. 23.

The Lady Bobcats (14-11) won the regular season Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Division III conference championship.

In the NJCAA Region XVII tournament opener, Georgia Northwestern defeated Southern Crescent Tech 81-25. Unfortunately, the Lady Bobcats fell to Middle Georgia Tech 64-58 in the championship game.
