The Rockmart Middle School team did what good teams do after a tough loss – they bounced back and won.

Playing against Model on Tuesday, March 5 – one day after a heartbreaking 13-2 defeat to their Polk County rivals Cedartown – the young Yellow Jackets earned an impressive 5-0 win.

The shutout victory was the first of the season for the middle school team. The win helped the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-1 on the season.

Rockmart is scheduled to play Rome on Tuesday, March 12 at 5 p.m. at Riverview Park in Rome.

Rockmart will end the regular season on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. against Darlington at North Floyd Field No. 3 in Rome.

So far this season, the young Yellow Jackets have defeated St. Mary’s 22-5 on Feb. 21, Rome 11-1 on Feb. 25, Pepperell 9-1 on Feb. 27 and Armuchee 10-5 on Feb. 28.

After the one and one start to the month of March, Rockmart now has a 5-1 overall record in the Rome-Floyd Parks Recreation Authority middle school varsity baseball league.
