A Rockmart man was arrested Feb. 21 at the Walmart pharmacy after he allegedly tried to fill a fake prescription, according to police.

Cecil Bishop, 38, of Atlanta Highway, Rockmart, is charged with unauthorized distribution of a controlled substance and first-degree forgery, said Det. David Gowens of the Rockmart Police Department.

Bishop has been released from the Polk County Jail on bond, according to jail records.

Gowens said Bishop allegedly called Walmart to fill a prescription reportedly ordered by a doctor. The pharmacy called the doctor’s office to verify the prescription and was told the doctor never issued it.

Police officers arrested Bishop when he came to the pharmacy to pick up the drug later that day, Gowens said.

Gowens said an investigation is continuing and Bishop could face additional charges.
