Mr. Benjamin Carl Connell, 93, of Buchanan, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

He was born on June 21, 1919 in Felton, Ga. to his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Connell.

Mr. Connell was a veteran, proudly serving in the United States Navy during World War II. He was retired from the Rome Plow Company.

Mr. Connell was a proud mason and was a member of the Caledonia Lodge No. 121 F&AM, having recently attained the distinction of being a “60-year Mason.” He was a member of the Felton Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; and his wife, Flora Jane Lee Connell.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lois Connell; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Vines officiating.

Interment followed in the family lot of the Center Cemetery in Felton with full military honors conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard and masonic rites were administered at graveside by the N.W. Georgia Masonic Memorial Group.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jason Connell, Joey Connell, Jonathan Connell, Caleb Connell, Ray Dollar and Scott McCray.
