The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Dec. 6:

1. The Cedartown Library will host the Rome Library Pupeteers at 10 a.m.

2. The Cedartown library also hosts story time for children every Thursday at 11 a.m..

3. The Polk Retired Educators will meet at the Cherokee Country Club at 11:30 a.m.

4. The 2012 Cedartown Christmas Parade has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. with a rain date of Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “The Sights and Sounds of Christmas.” The parade route will be from Marietta Street to the Badcock Furniture parking lot on North Main Street.

You should have been there if:

You love a Great Parade, almost an hour long

You remember Main Street in the 40s and 50s

You like good music(4 HS and at least 2 MS bands)

If you like a Christ centered emphasis event

You like "Silver Bells, Andy Williams, etc

You like Angelic faces filled with anticipation

You like good singers

You like smiling faces

You like good floats

You like to see Main Street crowded

You think "Merry Christmas" has been put on the backburner

You need to "get over" some poor overworked clerk or someone from another land or of another faith saying "Happy Holidays"...just respond by saying in a Christian or even a nostalgic tone, "Merry Christmas". Wouldn't the "reason for the season" want you to do that?
