Recently Meadow Lakes Golf Club won the McIntosh Cup by defeating players from The Lion Golf Club in Bremen.

According to Tobin Ayers, the event was held on Oct. 20-21 and consisted of each clubs 15 best golfers (10 men, four senior men, and one lady). Ayers noted that the format is very similar to the Ryder Cup Matches that are played between the U.S. and Europe.

“The event is called the McIntosh Cup named after one of The Lions prominent members,” Ayers said in a statement. “This is the second year we have done this and it is always something both clubs eagerly await.”

The first day of the event was played at Meadow Lakes and it consisted of three nine hole two-man matches. One match was of low ball, one was a scramble and one was of alternate shots.

The second day was played at The Lion and it was 18 holes of individual match play.

This year Meadow Lakes won the event, 22-20, to move the cup to Meadow Lakes.

“We hope it will stay for many years to come,” Ayers stated. “We also want to give special thanks to Matt Brynteson and Wayne Monroe for organizing the event.”

Next year the tournament will have the clubs play 27 holes on day one at The Lion and 18 holes at Meadow Lakes on day two.
