Mr. Raymond Borders, 83, of Rockmart passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2012.

He was born on April 8, 1929 in Carroll County, son of the late Edna Borders.

Mr. Borders was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during World War II. He retired from the Lockheed Martin Corporation and was of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Beatrice McCann Borders of Rockmart; daughter, Brenda Forsyth of Rockmart; three sons, Ray Borders and his wife Shirley of Cedartown, Kenneth Borders and his wife Renee and Donnie Borders all of Rockmart; sister, Syble Burns of Sargent Ga. and brother, Bobby Borders of Rockmart. Nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Minister Craig Hallman officiating.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Brown-Wright American Legion Post #12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.

The following grandsons were asked to serve as pallbearers: Daniel Forsyth, John Forsyth, Sean Borders, Cody Summerlin, Chase McDonald, Kenny Borders and Randy Borders.

The following great-grandsons were asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Conner Brock, Cole Brock, Nicholas Forsyth, Richard Borders and Alec Brogdon.

The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
