One of the men injured in an all-terrain vehicle wreck in Alabama Oct. 18 died earlier this week, according to the Alabama State Patrol.

Larry Wheeler, 56, of Esom Hill, died October 22, according to an obituary on the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home website.

There isn’t a condition available for the other ATV driver, James Pollard, 59, also of Georgia, injured in the wreck.

Alabama State Patrol records show the crash occurred at noon on County Road 49 in Cleveland, Ala.

Alabama authorities said it isn’t listed in reports whether citations will be issued against Pollard or anyone else in the incident. The crash remains an active investigation with the Alabama State Patrol.

However, Polk County Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) is heading up a criminal investigation after approximately 10 pounds of marijuana was found in a compartment of one of the vehicles brought back to a Shiloh Road residence after the incident.

Police have not disclosed who owns that vehicle because of an ongoing investigation.
