Rockmart fire officials are reviewing the case of one of their own arrested last week on a DUI charge, according to Chief Todd Queen.

Queen confirmed that Fire Capt. Jed Jebodiah Moore, 32, was arrested Oct. 18 in Bartow County on one charge of DUI. He said Moore told the department immediately of the incident.

“We do take incidents like this seriously,” Queen said. “It is being handled by the fire department.”

Queen said a fire deputy chief investigates incidents like this and has done an initial investigation. Queen said he is waiting on the deputy chief’s final recommendation for discipline.

“Discipline will be carried out and implemented based on city policies and procedures,” Queen said.

Queen said Moore is not on administrative leave because the department is moving very quickly with the investigation and disciplinary actions. He said a move to discipline the firefighter will happen by the end of this week.

Pretty much sums that up i'd say. If you don't take care of your own who will. It is part of life. The government gives an establishment a liscense to sell alcohol by the drink....patrons drive their cars to said establishments and drink....said patrons do so and then leave in the cars they drove to the city licensed establishment to have their drinks....Law enforcement hired by same government that issued the alcohol by drink liscense then stops the patron and gives them a citation for dui. Wow that's a pretty darn clever racket that the weak of mind (drinking drivers) seem to never figure out. Sometimes this little trap entangles one of their own government workers, in this case the fire chief. This should be real interesting and looking forward to seeing the next update.
