Rockmart Recreation Director Jeff Hulsey says the local youth soccer league is going well this fall.

“It’s been real good,” Hulsey said. “This has been the biggest turnout kid wise that we’ve ever had.”

Hulsey said the league is playing games on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Action starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evenings at the Nathan Dean Sports Complex and at 10 a.m. on Saturday mornings.

“We have 190 plus kids,” Hulsey said. “We will be sending two teams, a under-14 and under-12 team to the District tournament in Calhoun in November.”

Hulsey said the soccer program is something him and his staff take pride in.

“We are real proud of that program,” Hulsey said. “This is our seventh year to have the league. We started with 43 kids and now we are close to 200.”
