People can have co-workers, friends and others "arrested" for a donation of $20. A Compassion Building volunteer and Cedartown Police Capt. Henry Runyon will then go to serve the warrant for the (voluntary) arrest.
Targets of the warrant can avoid going to the Aaron's parking lot jail by paying a $10 "bail" (voluntary donation). The charity will also accept 20 cans of food instead of cash.
The fund-raiser is being held to raise funds and food for a community-wide Thanksgiving meal for the needy on Nov. 22.
Organizers said about 2,000 cans of food will be needed for the meal. Aaron's donated 800 cans of food, and by 2:30 p.m. Thursday the organization had "arrested" 32 people. (Lowell Vickers/thepolkfishwrap.com)
