The GSP identified the man in the one-vehicle crash as Solomon Smith of Dallas. Smith sustained the most injuries to his lower extremities, but officials at the crash scene labeled his injuries as “non-life-threatening.”
Smith was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, officials said. Grady officials said they do not provide condition information on its patients.
GSP reports state Smith was riding his motorcycle east on Yarbrough Road at 3:42 p.m. when he attempted to negotiated a left curve. A witness driving behind Smith told troopers that Smith exited the roadway and traveled around 36 feet before hitting a mailbox.
The bike, with Smith still on it, then traveled another 14 feet before hitting a culvert and concrete driveway. It continued to travel another 34 feet before overturning where Smith was ejected. The bike then rolled over additional times for another 33 feet before it finally stopped, reports said.
Smith is cited with driving while unlicensed or with an expired license and failure to maintain lane.
