She was born in New Kent County, Va. on June 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Walter Stewart and Edith Stewart.
Mrs. Mayhew was a native of Virginia and came to live in Cedartown six years ago. She was a buyer for Nachmans Retail Store and often traveled to New York to buy seasonal merchandise. She was also a wonderful seamstress and worked for major stores in alterations.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul J. Kemp and Clarence F. Mayhew and daughter, Norma Jean Alford.
Surviving are her daughters, Pat Owsley and Barbara Kemp; sister, Edythe Stewart; brothers, Buck Stewart and Stanley Stewart; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at a later date at the Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, Va.
The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home made the local announcement.
