The Cedartown Middle School fast-pitch softball team started the season with three straight wins.

The young Lady Bulldogs are currently 4-1 on the season with four more regular season games to go.

According to head coach Odell Abram, Cedartown defeated Darlington 9-1 on Aug. 30, took down Rockmart 9-6 on Aug. 31 and then won a road game at Darlington 11-3 on Sept. 5.

On Sept. 8, Cedartown played Rockmart in a doubleheader, winning one game 11-2 before dropping the other contest 15-14.

“We have played well as a team in all of our games, and the girls continue to get better with each game,” Abram said. “Coach Carter and coach Davis have been a big help and our players have learned to keep an even temparement throughout the game. That has led to some great defensive plays in most of our games.”

Cedartown will play Excel Christian Academy on Friday.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18 Cedartown will square off with Rome, before tangling with Chattooga on Sept. 20 in the final game of the regular season.

The postseason tournament will be Sept. 21-22, hosted by the regular season champions.
