We will be covering the results of the Primary election as information becomes available. All polls closed at 7 p.m. Check back later for updates.

* Absentee ballots released.

Around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, the results from absentee and early voting were released at the Polk County elections office.

Results of select contested races were as follows:

Polk County Sheriff (Republican ballot)

Michael McGee, 305 (15 percent);

Johnny E. Moats, 747 (38 percent);

Randy C. Stewart, 197 (10 percent);

Mike Sullivan, 668, (34 percent);

District Attorney, Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit

Bobby Brooks (incumbent), 1,107

Jack Browning, 860

County Commission

District 1

Billy Croker, 1,152 (58 percent)

Cleve Hartley, (incumbent), 804 (41 percent)

County Commission

District 2

Ray Barber, 696, (35 percent)

Ricky Clark, (incumbent), 559, (28 percent);

Scott McCray, 374, (19 percent);

Howard Smith, 309, (15 percent).

County Commission

District 3

Stefanie Drake Burford, 1,073, (56 percent);

Larry Lamar Reynolds, (incumbent), 833, (44 percent);

Probate Court

Bobby Bersky, 564, (29 percent);

Linda H. Smith, 1,373, (70 percent).

(No incumbent. Previous office holder retired).

Tax commissioner

Mike Hogg, 667, (33.5 percent);

Dorothy C. Wood, (incumbent), 1,320, (66.5 percent).

Precinct results were still being tallied at 8:45 p.m. More results will be posted online as they become available.

Rockmart and Fish Creek

Results for the Rockmart and Fish Creek precincts were released simultaneously to a reporter for The Polk Fish Wrap around 9:20 p.m.

Combined vote tallies are as follows:

Polk County Sheriff (Republican ballot)

Michael McGee, 424 (35 percent);

Johnny E. Moats, 1,078 (38 percent);

Randy C. Stewart, 392 (12.8 percent);

Mike Sullivan, 1,166, (38 percent);

District Attorney, Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit

Bobby Brooks (incumbent), 1,750 (56.54)

Jack Browning, 1,345 (43.46)

County Commission

District 1

Billy Croker, 1,752 (56.8 percent)

Cleve Hartley, (incumbent), 1,331 (46 percent)

County Commission

District 2

Ray Barber, 1,123, (36.6 percent)

Ricky Clark, (incumbent), 984, (32.1 percent);

Scott McCray, 537, (17.5 percent);

Howard Smith, 420, (13.7 percent).

County Commission

District 3

Stefanie Drake Burford, 1,603, (53.26 percent);

Larry Lamar Reynolds, (incumbent), 1,407, (46.74 percent);

Probate Court

Bobby Bersky, 930, (30 percent);

Linda H. Smith, 2,105, (70 percent).

(No incumbent. Previous office holder retired).

Tax commissioner

Mike Hogg, 1,023, (32.5 percent);

Dorothy C. Wood, (incumbent), 2,126, (67.5 percent).

State races:

There were two candidates on the Republican ballot for the Georgia House of Representatives, District 16.

Trey Kelley appeared to be on his way to victory with a wide margin. With absentees, Rockmart and Fish Creek ballots combined, Kelley had 3,067 votes to Jennifer Hulsey's 2,022.

The seat is currently held by Rick Crawford (D-Fish Creek), who was unopposed on the Democratic ballot.
