Edward Keith Kelly, 54, a former substitute teacher, was indicted on Polk County charges of obscene internet contact with a child and three counts of computer pornography,
These charges stem from a sting conducted in September 2008 where a sheriff’s department investigator from Aiken, North Carolina, posed as a girl under 16-years-old.
Kelly allegedly had obscene conversations with the undercover officer and performed sex acts on a webcam.
Kelly is back in Polk County on bond from a similar Glynn County case, where the grand jury there indicted him in 2010 relating to a sting using the cooperative efforts of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and local authorities.
In that case, Glynn County police investigator William Dara posed as an under-aged girl on Yahoo Messenger in 2009. It was in these online chats where police allege Kelley conducted sexual conversations with what he believed was a girl under 16-years-old, according to the indictment.
He has not been tried in that case with Glynn County authorities expecting federal officials to take it up.
