The City of Rockmart has received a donation of $6,980.00 from Nathan Dean, former senator.

Mayor Steve Miller said the funds would pay the cost of replacing a fence that borders Industrial Drive and the Silver Comet Trail at the entrance of the sports complex. The fence will be stained and provide a face-lift to the park.

Miller accepted the gift on behalf of the City during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

He thanked Dean for his generosity as council members stood and the audience gave him a warm welcome.

The mayor also commented on a $1,000 donation received by Rockmart Fire Department.

Kimberly-Clark Corp. presented the funds through Meggitt.

Fire Chief Todd Queen said the money would be used in the continued upgrade of the training facility, located near the fire station.
