Drew Ragsdale appears to be playing golf as well as any teenager around. Later this month, Ragsdale will find out for certain if he is or not.

The Cedartown native recently won two golf tournaments, and because of his success this summer he is going to play in a international golf championship tournament July 19-24 in Florida.

Ragsdale won the local Optimist tournament at the Cherokee Golf and Country Club in Cedartown recently, sponsored by the Rome Optimist Club. The young golfer, whose grandfather is former Cedartown High School golf coach Travis Ragsdale, then won the State Optimist Tournament.

The State event was held at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Dawsonville and Ragsdale won the 14-and-15-year-old age division by shooting seven birdies over the course of 18 holes to finish with a score of 68.

Ragsdale will now play in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla.
