CEDAR BLUFF, ALA. — Crews were continuing to search an Alabama lake for a northwest Georgia man who went under the water.

The Gadsden Times reports that authorities have identified the missing man as 27-year-old Matthew Huether of Rome, Ga.

Alabama Marine Police say Huether was with his wife, children and his father on a pontoon boat when they stopped for fuel near a Cedar Bluff marina at Weiss Lake on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say that while Huether and his father were getting fuel, his wife and children jumped in the water to cool off. Authorities said the wind began to blow the boat away from them after they jumped off.

Police say Huether jumped in the water in an attempt to reach the children when he went under.
