Listed below is the schedule of events leading up to the NAIA Championship Game between Carroll (Mont.) and St. Xavier (Ill.). 





WEDNESDAY, DEC. 14

Teams arrive in Rome — Both teams will be greeted by officials of the Host Committee.

Team Check-in at hotels.

Practice session — Practice facilities will be available for the teams at Darlington School and Shorter University. (Times will be determined on teams arrival schedules.)



THURSDAY, DEC. 15

8-9:45 a.m. — Team Breakfast at respective hotels

10-11:30 a.m. — Champions of Character Activities (Players will attend four Rome-Floyd County schools to meet with youth in the area. School No. 1-Garden Lakes. School No. 2-West Central. School No. 3-Midway. School No. 4-Darlington Lower.)

Noon-1:30 p.m. — Fellowship of Christian Athletes-Champions of Character Luncheon at The Forum. (John Croyle will be the featured speaker. Croyle is a former Alabama Crimson Tide National Championship defensive end, coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant. The ceremony will include the second High School Champion of Character Award presentation. Open to the public. Tickers are $25 or $250 for a table of 10.

2-5:30 p.m. — Practice Sessions / Teams Meetings. Carroll-Darlington School. St. Xavier-Shorter University

5:45-6:15 p.m. — Championship Press Conference at Yancey Suite in Darlington School’s Huffman Center, hosted by Darlington School, the City of Rome, Rome News-Tribune and radio station WLAQ. TV and press media from the greater Rome area, Atlanta and Chattanooga will attend.

7:30-9 p.m. — Welcome Dinner hosted by First Baptist Church of Rome (Carroll) and First Methodist Church (St. Xavier).



FRIDAY, DEC. 16

8-9:30 a.m. — Team Breakfast at respective hotels

9-11:30 a.m. — Team Meetings. Both teams will be provided with meeting rooms at Darlington/Shorter/ team hotels for both position meetings and film review.

10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. — Coaches Wives/Spouses Day. The coaches wives, spouses of school officials, NAIA dignitaries and their families will be invited to spend the day as guests of the Host Committee.

11:45 a.m. — Team Lunch/ Featured Speaker. Lunches will be served to both teams at the Shorter café prior to their Friday afternoon practices. Guest speaker will be Shorter University head men’s basketball coach Chad Warner.

1:30-4:30 p.m. — Practice sessions/Stadium walk-through. Both teams will hold a pre-game walk-through at Barron Stadium on Friday Afternoon. Scheduled times are as follows: Carroll-1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. St. Xavier-3:10 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

6:30 p.m. — NAIA Banquet of Champions at The Forum. The Riverwalk, Shorter, and Berry Rooms will be made available for post-banquet meetings. Open to Public. Tickets are $30 or $300 for a table of 10.



SATURDAY, DEC. 17

Rome News Tribune Souvenir Edition — The Rome News Tribune will publish a Game-Day insert as a part of its Saturday circulation. Each Participant will be provided a copy.

8-10 a.m. — Team breakfast.

12:30 p.m. — Team lunch served at respective hotels.

1:15 p.m. — Teams depart for Barron Stadium. 1:15 p.m.-Carroll. 2 p.m.-St. Xavier. (Times subject to change based on coaches)

2 p.m. — BBQ on the Bank. Presented by Georgia Power, River City Bank & Friends. (Invitation only)

2:30 p.m. — Radio Remote and Tailgate Show (97.5 The Ridge) at Main Gate.

2:30 p.m. — Gates open.

4:30 p.m. — Kick-0ff at Barron Stadium. The stadium is located in downtown Rome. Game tickets are $25.

Post- Game — NAIA Football National Championship Presentation presented by Russell Athletics

Post- Game — NAIA Football National Championship Post-Game Press Conference. (Fitness Center)
