The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is being called to evaluate possible criminal charges against a jailer accused of injuring an inmate, according to Polk County Sheriff Johnny Moats.
Moats said he is asking for the investigation after he dealt with the matter internally. He said he is calling the GBI on Wednesday, May 22, about the matter and will turn over videotape showing the incident.
According to Moats, a Polk County Jail employee came to him May 20 and informed him that an inmate had received injuries last week after an altercation with a jailer.
