Mr. Roberts was born on Jan. 4, 1922 in McMinnville, Tenn. to the late Daniel Roberts and the late Maggie Austin Roberts. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II and worked as a crane operator with Diamond Shamrock Company. Mr. Roberts was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Painesville, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Roberts in 1972; a brother, Edmund Roberts and a sister, Roberta Hale and a granddaughter, Amber.
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Iva Lee Roberts to whom he was married in 1975; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Freida Roberts of Rockmart; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and George Morgan of Madison, Ohio, Sharon and Bud Hissam of Sarasota, Fla., and Anita and James Goodwin of Leesburg, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; nephews and a niece.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the Lakeside Baptist Church in Painesville, Ohio with Rev. Arlie Spargar officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Perry Cemetery, Perry Ohio.
The family received friends at the Johnson Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
The Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of the local funeral arrangements.
