The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Sept. 25:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.

3. Cedartown High School Homecoming events are on Friday, Sept. 28. A parade will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Main Street. Community league football teams, cheerleaders, and other community entries are encouraged to participate. The homecoming football game will follow at Cedartown Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Halftime events will include the presentation of class representatives and the crowning of the homecoming queen. Anyone interested in entering a float or being in the 2012 Cedartown Homecoming parade needs to pick up an entry form from the main office at CHS. Entry forms need to be turned into the main office by Sept. 25, or you will not be eligible to be in the parade. Line up for the parade will begin at 4 p.m. To confirm your line-up position or for more details, please contact Sara Underwood at 770-748-0490. As a reminder, no items can be thrown from your truck or float.

4. The Polk School District Board of Education will hold a special session meeting at the central office on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
