The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Aug. 3:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Kiwanis Club of Cedartown meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. at Cherokee Country Club.

3. The 16th annual Dillard Bluegrass and Barbeque benefit festival will be held Aug. 3 and 4 in the Dillard Cith Hall grounds in Dillard, Ga. Live entertainment begins at 3:10 p.m. Friday continuing until 9:40 p.m. with the opening ceromonies at 3 p.m. Saturday music begins at 11 a.m. and will last until 9 p.m. The gates will open at 10 a.m. both days. Admission is $10 per person ages 12-and-over Two day admission is $15. BBQ sandwiches and plates coked by BBQ pros will be on sale as well as food for all tastes. Free parking and shuttle services will be provided.
