Three Cedartown residents were arrested on drug charges after police searched a home on Chestnut Street this past Monday.

On Jan. 28, the Cedartown Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 417 Chestnut Street, Cedartown after receiving numerous complaints from concerned citizens stemming from suspected drug activity occurring at that residence.

After an investigation, Cedartown Drug Agents developed probable cause for a search warrant for that residence.

During the search, the officers located amounts of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, commonly used to weigh drugs for distribution, and glass pipes, commonly used to ingest illegal drugs, that contained suspected methamphetamine residue.

Based on the evidence that located during the search of the residence,

William Wayne Welchel of 417 Chestnut St., Jamie Jeanine Forrister, also of 417 Chestnut St., and Jason Lance Glenn of 1670 Buchanan Hwy., Cedartown, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and tools for the commission of a crime.

Forrister was also arrested for an outstanding warrant, possession of a schedule IV narcotic stemming from an earlier incident.

All persons were arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail for housing.

The Cedartown Police Department was assisted in this operation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement thanks residents for their continued cooperation and support regarding the county’s war on drugs. Anyone with information on suspected drug activity is encouraged to call the drug tip line at 770-748-3788.
