Tonight, a strong storm system will approach from the Mississippi Valley; ahead of it, northeast Georgia will see very high winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting to 50 mph at times. Northwest Georgia may see storms beginning late tonight; the bulk of the storm activity is expected tomorrow, but some models bring the system through earlier. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers or storms. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s.
A strong cold front will pass through Georgia tomorrow; as it approaches, instability and wind shear will be sufficient to support the development of scattered to numerous thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.
Some storms may be severe. The primary threats will be damaging winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rain. Isolated tornadoes are also possible, particularly in the southwest.
