Rockmart man scheduled to appear in court in Fla.

One of the five Rockmart men arrested in Panama City Beach, Fla., last May will be going to court, according to records.

Bay City Clerk of Court records show that Anterrian Middlebrooks, 18, of Rockmart, is scheduled to go to court Sept. 24. He faces an armed robbery charge.

The others, Kenneth Wayne Cooper, 19, of 157 Liggons Circle, Aragon; Quintel Da’Quan Garrett, 18, of 10 Murifield Walk N.W., Cartersville; Jaylon Shamontae Ware, 19, of 525 Martin Luther King Jr. St., Rockmart; and Quitman DeShawn Berry, 19, of Silver Creek, will not face any charges.

The accessory to armed robbery charge filed against each of them was dropped, according to court records.

Cooper’s case was closed Sept. 11 and the others had their cases closed Sept. 19, records state.

All were arrested May 31 after a male victim reported to police he had been robbed of around $230 May 30 at the Summit Condos.

The victim said in reports one of the men held a knife to his throat. He said the three men got into a car.

Later, police identified the car and made a stop. At the time, all five men were in the car and all five were arrested.

Three - Garrett, Berry, and Middlebrooks - graduated from Rockmart High School this year, according to the school graduation list.

At least two – Middlebrooks and Garrett – were high school basketball standouts, according to archived sports news articles.
