Citizens and Merchants of Polk County:

I trust you all had a wonderful Christmas season and an opportunity to spend time with family and friends; I hope that 2012 is a productive and prosperous year for you all.

On behalf of the Rockmart Police Department and the children in our community I want to say thank you to all local businesses, civic clubs and individual citizens who opened up their heart and wallet to make the annual Christmas is for Kids program a great success in 2011.

Considering the state of the economy, the donation of toys and money was overwhelming. It appears that those blessed with a job and the means to help others were more generous than we could have ever imagined. It warms my heart and makes me proud to be a part of this community.

I would like to say a special “thank you” to the Rockmart First Baptist Church for allowing us to distribute the toys from their wonderful new facility. The members of the church provided fruit, blankets and coats for the families. Church members of all ages volunteered to assist us in the distribution. It was a true act of Christian service that helped our efforts tremendously.

As law enforcement officers, many times we come in contact with people in the midst of problems, crisis or tragedy. Christmas is for Kids gives us an opportunity to enrich the lives of the families we serve.

Again, thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of children in our area.

Sincerely,

Keith Sorrells
