Large amount of drugs found in the street

A citizen contacted police after she found a bag in the street that contained thousands of dollars in drugs, according to officials.

Reports state the woman found the bag in the street near Cherokee Road and College Drive.

The woman told police she picked up and opened the bag to see if there was any identification inside so she could return it to its owner, but she called police when she saw what was inside.

Police said they found a small bag of marijuana and a large amount of methamphetamine inside the bag after it was turned over to them. The evidence was taken to the Cedartown Police Department (CPD) and tested and proved to be methamphetamines.

According to the report, the methamphetamine had a total street value of approximately $12,600. No arrests have been made.

Surveillance video shows man stealing change from children’s ride

Police were called to a laundry mat business at 377 West Avenue in Cedartown in reference to a theft occurring August 5, according to reports.

An employee provided a security video to police showing a man wearing a sleeveless white shirt, sunglasses and blue jeans entering the business. The man is described in the report to be in his 20’s, heavily tattooed on both arms with short hair.

The suspect in the video is shown to have “stooped down” in front of a children’s elephant ride and stand back up carrying a round tray to the rear of the business. He is then shown walking out of the business a few minutes later. Reports show the amount stolen to be $20.

Police have a suspect but haven’t made any arrests.
