The Rockmart Middle School baseball team has destroyed their first three opponents of 2013 in the Rome-Floyd Parks & Recreation Authority middle school league.

Rockmart opened the season on Thursday, Feb. 21 by blasting St. Mary’s 22-5. The young Yellow Jackets followed that impressive performance by blowing past Rome 11-1 on Monday, Feb. 25.

Rockmart then continued their early season on slaught by smacking Pepperell 9-1 on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

In three games this season, the Yellow Jackets have scored 42 runs – the most runs scored in the league.

Currently Rockmart is one of only three teams to still be undefeated in the league. Other members are Darlington, Cedartown, Rome, Armuchee, Cartersville, Pepperell, St. Mary’s and Model.

Rockmart is slated to play again Thursday in Rome, against Armuchee at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Rockmart will play Cartersville in a doubleheader, also in Rome. The first game will be at noon and the second game at 2 p.m.
