Murray Payton, who will turn 100 years old next March, entered four jars into the canning competition at this year’s Polk County Fair.

He earned four ribbons — two first-place ribbons and two second-place awards.

Many other Polk Countians also won ribbons in last weeks fair with entries in Departments 7-10 of judging, which are coordinated by the Pilot Club of Cedar Valley.

The fair, which ran Tuesday through Saturday, is the primary fund-raising activity of the Cedartown Exchange Club.
