The man is identified as James Agan. Litesey said Agan was driving on Cave Spring Road, when the accident happened. He was taken to Floyd Medical Center and died in surgery around 11 p.m.
The bulk of the 30,000 remaining power outages in Georgia is in the Northwest Georgia area, according to Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol Boatright.
"You guys were the hardest hit in the state," she said.
There are 5,000 customers with a Cedartown address without power, although some of those with a Cedartown address may actually live outside the county, she said. In total, there are 4,780 Polk County residents without power.
There are 4,100 residents without power in Rome, again with some of those living outside Floyd County. She said Floyd County shows 3,900 residents without power.
Boatright said there were 241 separate storm incidents occurring in Northwest Georgia last night. Statewide, there were 100 broken poles and 200 broken power lines, she said. Tuesday morning update: School has been canceled today (Tuesday, March 19) in Polk County due to widespread power outages and impassable roadways.
Early Tuesday morning, it appeared that the east side of Main Street was still without power. The offices of the Cedartown Standard and the Rockmart Journal are temporarily closed until power can be restored.
Thousands of residents in Polk were still without power Tuesday morning.There has been an initial report of a Polk fatality due to the storms, but that has not yet been confirmed by local officials.
Update: Floyd Countyhas about 11,000 customers without power, about 6,700 in Cedartown, according to Carol Boatright, a public information officer with Georgia Power.
In Cedartown, a tree was reported down near Owens Barbecue on South Main Street and another one across Main Street in front of Bojangle’s. Several trees have been reported toppled on College Street. Another tree is down on Philpot Street near the Cedardown Standard office.
Sammy Stephens, Cedartown fire chief, said he thought straight-line wind caused the damage there.
Some traffic signals have been reported damaged in Rockmart on East Avenue and Main Street. A tree was also reported in a house near College Street and Piedmont Avenue in Rockmart.
A tornado warning for Floyd County has expired. There is serious damage in southern Floyd County and the Cave Spring area, according to 911. Trees are down throughout the southern portions of Rockmart Highway, U.S. 27 and U.S. 411 south of Rome. There has been numerous reports of structural damage, including the Silver Creek Mini Mart on Rockmart Highway, which was seriously damaged.
The Rockmart Highway is pretty much impassable in Silver Creek.

Trees are down ton Wax Road; Black's Bluff Road, where part of a carport was reported in the roadway; Rivermont Road, U.S. 411 at Norton Road; Eden Valley Road; Ga. 101 at Livingston Road, Chulio Road at the Race Trac and The Trail in Lindale.
A minor fire was reported at the Coke plant on U.S. 27 south.
Power lines are down on Booze Mount Road and Wax Road.

There are also several trees down on Main Street in Cedartown and the power is out in downtown Cedartown, according to reports from The Cedartown Standard.
