A small, independent movie began filming recently in Cedartown, with several exterior shots taking place in the downtown area Friday.

The film, to be named later, is a self-financed project by local attorney Bill Lundy. In addition to having a starring role in the film, Lundy is directing and also wrote the screenplay.

Lundy has hired professional actors from out of state and has also brought in a film crew from California. Several local residents also have small roles.

The film is a law drama, Lundy explained to the Cedartown City Commission during the board's Monday, Oct. 8 meeting. It will be told from the perspective of a northern lawyer hired by a smalltown attorney in the fictional town of Harper, Ala., to assist litigating "the case of a lifetime."

Lundy was at the city commission meeting to request use of the Cedartown Fire Department's ladder truck to film a scene later in the movie. The request was granted.

The ladder truck will be used to get an overhead shot of a scene near the Big Spring. Lundy said he's waiting for the trees to turn to fall colors before scheduling that shot.

Some interiors shots have been filmed around town in various locales, including a grocery store scene shot last week at Casey's Food Store after closing.
