Kim Butler tells The Telegraph that her mother, 65-year-old Linda Hunnicutt, was a stay-at-home-mom in Jones County who for several years hosted an Easter egg hunt for area children.
Police said Hunnicutt stepped from her vehicle, and the man in the motorized wheelchair shot her. She died despite the efforts of a crowd of people working to revive her.
The suspect, 73-year-old Frank Louis Reeves, faces a murder charge.
His attorney, Veronica Brinson, said in a statement to The Associated Press Thursday that her client hopes Hunnicutt's family can grieve in peace.
