Cedartown brothers Daniel and Simon Schabort recently left Falmouth, Mass. With medals after winning and placing at the 12th annual Savings Bank Life Insurance (SBLI) Falmouth Recreation Family Fun Run.

Simon Schabort won first place in the boys age eight race while his older brother Daniel finished second in the Boys age nine race.

According to organizers on Saturday, Aug. 11, more than 500 runners – ranging in ages from three to 14 years – got their shot at gold as they competed in various distance races, beginning with a 100-yard dash for children five and under, a 200-meter race for six and seven-year-olds, 400 meters for eight and nine-year-olds, 800 meters for 10 and 11 year olds, and one mile for 12 to 14 year olds. Every participant shined in the annual event, organizers noted, taking home an official race T-shirt, a medal, and a “fantasy finish line photo.”

The race, formerly the SBLI Junior Falmouth Road Race, marks the twelfth year that SBLI has sponsored the children’s event, established with SBLI’s sponsorship of the Falmouth Road Race from 2001-2005.

I wish all Cedartown children could focus on being healthy and exercising. 4 out of 5 kids I see in Cedartown are unnecessarily fat. These brothers are truly worth admiring.

Congratulations! Daniel and Simon are great little guys plus they have those athletic skills but wait until that little sister Sarah gets in there ..that's when the real competition will begin.
