Where some pitchers might have tried not throwing wild pitches with a runner on third, and others might have tried covering the plate after throwing a wild pitch, Austin instead went with the heretofore untested method of sprinting off the mound toward the advancing runner and body-checking him to the ground before he could reach home plate. And it would have worked if weren't for that meddling umpire!
You might guess that the incident stemmed from mounting frustration on Austin's part, perhaps due to whatever loaded the bases in the first place. But in fact, according to the box score the batter – Matthew Simmons – was only the second hitter Austin faced in the game. The runner at third wasn't even his responsibility.

If a professional baseball player pulled this move he could expect to take a few punches or be spiked and/or hit with a pitch later in the game or a future game since he would most likely be ejected from the game.
Alum? For a guy who hates public education, I'm shocked to see you went to Berry College.
Your the type to throw everyone in Jail.
My goodness, let the coaches sort it out. Let the League make an eligibility ruling, and mind your own business. People like you think everything is your business.....

Looks like I have a stalker now.
Troll.

Maybe he should sit on the bench for the rest of the month and lose his scholarship money if he can't control himself the rest of the season.
He needs some counseling on how to control his emotions and anger in the games also before he is allowed back in the lineup.
"He needs some counseling on how to control his emotions and anger"
Seriously? A statement like that from the guy who spews more hate filled venom than anybody on the RN-T blogs? Maybe yall both could go to counciling together.
I didn't know that Phil. I know that years ago, one of the pitchers told me that only pitchers were on full scholarship and other players were on partial scholarship. If he is on an academic scholarship or not on academic scholarship, he could still be kicked out of school or lose academic aid for violation of school policy. I heard that he's been suspended for three games. I don't know if that's the next three of his spots in the pitching rotation or just the next three games.
This pitcher would be in real hot water.
